Tempting Tangrams

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about geometry. There were four activities and we were split into groups,  my first activity was called tempting tangrams. We had to find the area of each of the shapes by comparing  them with a triangle that resembles 1 and to rearrange the shapes to make bigger shape. I really liked this activity and it felt good when I made the right shape. If I had to do something different the next time we did this I would help my team mate  some more because I sort of went off and started doing some myself. Here is a slide show of the shapes I made…

If there’s anything you think I could add I would love to hear in the comments.
See you later,

Bye.

Why Different Foods are Good for Us.

In Te Ngahere Whaea Gina came to our class to have a recap of what we've been learning
about during the last couple of weeks. We have been learning about all the different food groups
and why they are good for us. There were four groups; protein, dairy, grains and vegetables.
With this new learning I am going to try and have at least two of these food groups in my lunch
and for every day snacks.  I explain why they are good for us in my D.L.O. hope you enjoy.

If there anything I need fix or what I could add to my D.L.O, I would love to know in the comments.

Bye.

Super Cool Athletics day

Last Friday at Paihia School we had our inter school athletics day. We were learning to develop more complex movement sequences and strategies in a range of situations. My favourite activities is relays and 200 meter sprint. The only downside to it was I had a sore bruise on my leg and It was harder for me to run. I really enjoyed going to Bledisloe Domain for athletics and next time I will try and remember a water bottle.(I did drink some water though). I couldn't find any photos of our athletics day but it was still fun! Have you done athletics before?

Bye.

Super cool Tessellations

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about tessellation. Tessellation is an art using only one shape multiple times. I was learning to tessellate a plane with a random irregular quadrilateral and to explain how I did that. The shapes do not overlap or there are no gaps between the shapes. We made some shapes and created our own tessellation, We printed them and coloured than in. Then we made some digital copies with a irregular quadrilateral shape. I really like making the shape and colouring it in. Here Is a D.L.O of how we made out tessellations, hope you enjoy…

If there were any mistakes in the D.LO could you tell me in the comments.

Guess The Time

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about having reasonable answers. To test this we were given a sheet with multiple clocks on it. The clocks had no minute hand so we had to come up with a reasonable answer.  We found out a way to work out the problems, we knew when the hour had was pointing at 12 it was 12 0’clock. When the hour had was pointing in between two numbers for example: Five and Six. We knew that if it was in between the numbers it must be half past, so we used the numbers and found out it must be half past five. If I had to do something different if we did this again I think maybe we could switch roles and see how that works because some people in the group they didn’t have a lot to do. My role was the recorder/reporter so I had to write down how we worked something out.

Duffy Theatre

Last Friday at Paihia School we had a Duffy show call Duffy theatre. We haven’t had this show before, we only had small shows were they talk about books. This show was like a play and it was really funny. The plot of the show was a girl wouldn't get off her games and her friend wanted to play but he go suck in the game and they had to work together to get out the game. I think he moral of the story is when you work together you can do anything. I really like the plot and the music playing at the right time. I wonder how long they practices for?
Talk to you soon.

Bye.
