Summer Learning Journey, Rugby Superstars

Hey guys, sorry it’s been a while, I’ve just been a bit busy lately but I am finally here. Today I have chosen to do the activity one day three rugby superstars. For this activity we had to choose three superpowers and name why we would want them. I think if I had three superpowers they would be…
  1. Elastic because you can like stretch body parts and you could stretch your arms and body to act like a glider. What will I do with this power? I would use it say to help people over streams or gaps if there is no bridges. If there was a falling plane of helicopter I could make myself really tall and grow my hands big and catch the falling object of people.
  2. My second super power would be teleportation because you could teleport from place to place like if you want to go on holiday you could just teleport to where you want to go. What will I do with this power? Like the first one if any one or object was falling I could teleport it to the ground so it doesn't crash and I could just move objects from one place to the other.
  3.  For my third power it would be force fields and shields. What will I do with this power? I would use this if like someone attacked me I could use a  shield to block things like punches and gun shoots.
This was a cool activity and I’ll talk to you all soon.

Bye.

Don't lose it, Reuse it.

Yesterday in Te Ngahere we made bags out of old shirts with Anouk. Anouk is very passionate about reusing old things that we would just throw away. Last year she made beeswax wraps with us. We were learning to reuse old everyday items. Here's a D.L.O of how we made our shirt…

The photos I used were all from pixabay and under the pixabay licence. If you think I could add something could you tell me in the comments. If we were to do this again
Alright,

Bye.

Teasing you with Teaser Week.

This week in Te Ngahere we have been doing the first week of the teaser week for the summer learning journey. What is the summer learning journey and what is teaser week you may ask, well the summer learning journey is a program to help you keep you writing and reading level where they are. It helps you from going down the summer slide witch is when you learn something one year but you forget and have to relearn it. The teaser week is just to give you an idea of what the program is like  (sort of like a practice). This year the summer learning journey theme is change makers, today one was artist and entertainers.

There are three activities a day so I started with the first one which was about Lorde.(She's a singer). For this activity we had to research as much as we could and then make a profile for her. I think we were learning to research about a person/ object and find facts about it.  Here is what I created for lorde.

The second activity was about your roots/ like who you are and what you love. We had to create a pepeha about ourselves. This one was a bit more easy because we have already created our pepeha but here it is.

I think we were learning to find out who we really were. I didn't get to doing task three but I just can’t wait until the program starts for real. When the program finishes and if you are one of the top bloggers you win a prize, so I really want to get that spot prize!
Talk to you soon,

Bye.

Having fun at the beach for bio blitz.

In Te Ngahere 20 lucky students were chosen to go to Waiora bay and talk to some scientist from Auckland museum. The Scientist where surveying the area to see what wildlife has changed from 250 years ago, the last people to survey this area was Daniel Sullivan and Joseph Banks. We were learning about the Birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, seaweeds and sea wildlife. I learnt a lot of things like when we were searching for insects I found a certain type of bee, it was called a masked bee. Also when Mikaire and Jahrell found a fish that they named Murray, I found out it was actually called a Olive rock fish. I really liked searching for creatures and seaweeds in the rock pools. I found a lot of cushion stars (starfish) a huge purple crab and a really cool shell. Have you ever been to a bio blitz before?

Bye.
I found this crab
