How To Create a Quality Blog Post

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about what makes a quality blog post.  There were 6 things that go into making a quality blog post. You need a catchy title to draw the reader in to read your post. A intro that talks about what the post is about, the D.L.O to show what you have been learning. You will also need a reflection talking about what you did well or what you could do different next time. You need a source and that's where you found the photos if you used any and the last one is ending with a question, asking what you could do better or asking for the readers opinion. With this new knowledge I will try and add all of these into my future posts. If you want you can use these steps in your posts and blow the teacher away.
See you all later.
Bye.

Dentist

In Te Ngahere our dentist came in and she talked about dental hygiene. She comes in every year to check our teeth and tells us what we need to do to our teeth and the best thing of all is that it’s free! We were learning about what we can do to protect our teeth. I learnt that spit actually protects our teeth but there are also other people that don’t have a proper spit making thing in their mouths so they have lost the natural protection. I also learnt about some stuff called plaque and the longer it’s on your teeth it can turn as hard as stone so brush well and long. We made D.L.Os to show what we learnt and what we can do for our teeth.

Beach Clean Up

Hello, Last week in Te Ngahere we walked down to the beach and cleaned it. I think it is good that we clean our beaches because the wind would push the rubbish in the water if we didn’t put it in the bin. Also it’s good because the fish won’t eat it or sea life. We were in groups and it was a challenge who could get the most rubbish but at the same time I was thinking, isn’t it good to have only a little in you bag cause that shows how clean our beaches are.  So we all cleaned the beach one side to the other, in the sand and wedged between rocks and at the end we took a photo and we all said”Keep New Zealand Beautiful”. The most common pieces of rubbish was probably cigaret butts and bottle caps.  I think if we put the rubbish into bags there will be about 3 full bags and a half, not to bad. I hope people will start helping and putting their rubbish in the bin properly.

Duffy Books

Yesterday at Paihia School we had a Duffy Assembly. Paihia School is a duffy school and that means Duffy sends lists of books and we can choose some we want, but the assembly is when someone comes in  and talks about reading and stories of them as a child and why they liked reading. This time it was Rebecca Brothers and she was talking a bit about her life. Rebecca was a retired Olympic swimmer and after that she became a police officer.   I learnt that Rebecca brothers used to get up at 4.45 am in the morning and in the water at 5.00am before school even started, WOW. After a while back at class we were given our books and read them for a bit. I was lucky and I got the books that I really wanted which are Tom Gates and Diary of a Minecraft Enderman.  I really enjoyed getting my books and I can’t wait to read them all at home.
See you later.

Bye.

Running at Waikare

At Paihia school the winners of cross country went to the next race in Waikare. The winners all left in the morning and we all did our best. The ages were kind of mixed around, I can’t remember how it went but it was something like 6 year olds then 12 year olds to 5 year olds, it was very confusing. At Waikare after a while it was hammering down with rain and tents were about to fly away but by the time It was my race the sun was out and it was nice blue sky. It was so cold and I was wrapped up in all my jumpers but as the sun came out it was fine. I don’t know what place I came in my race but I was near the middle of the back. I saw lots of my friends at Waikare and I even raced against  them, it was so much fun. I really enjoyed running with all my friends and was glad it was sunny for my race. There was a part in the race and it’s a huge hill and some people go down to fast and face plant into the ground or fall over. I walked slowly down the hill and I think that was the best technique. It was to rainy so We couldn't get any good photos.

Sugar Drinks

Today in Te Ngahere Gina from energise has returned and  this time we have been learning about sugar in drinks. I learnt that Coca Cola has 10 teaspoons of sugar and also learnt powerade has lots of salt and you should only have it after a marathon or lots of hours exercising.  There were other drinks like water, milk, flavored water, V, Powerade and lots of others. We had three sections for different things, The first section was for drinks to have a lot of, the second section was for drinks to have sometimes, the third section was for drinks you should have rarely. I really enjoyed her visit and she gave out prizes to the people who won the game in her last visit. From the visit I will make sure to have less sugar drinks and only have powerade after lots of hours of exercising. (I don’t usually have it any way). We made D.L.O.s to show what we learnt.

Cross Country.

On Friday at Paihia School we had our annual school Cross Country. We were all excited about it, we left after playtime so we did some learning before we left. When we arrived I had some food and  a slice of cake. It was a while until my race so I just played around and cheered the other kids on. The races were in age and gender so the 5 year old boys went first and then the five year old girls etc. When it was my race we all lined up at the starting line and 3, 2, 1 go! We all ran around the field and up the hill, on the field I was changing from second and third but I ended up staying at 3rd. It was really tiring going up the hill but when we turned down the hill it was great. I finished in 3rd place and I was so hot as soon as I finished I bought a ice block to cool me down. I really enjoyed running and since I got 3rd I am going to the next race and I can’t wait.
